LA Times: Company Flow-”Funcrusher Plus” Reissue
There are three albums I’d theoretically want to write a 33 1/3 about: Fela Kuti’s Expensive Shit/He Miss Road, Ghostface’s Supreme Clientele, and Company Flow’s Funcrusher Plus. 500 words clearly doesn’t cut it, but it’ll have to suffice.

This is perfect timing. I’ve been re-visiting Company Flow this past week to remind myself what hip-hop used to sound like. Really great writing on this man, you sum up their influence nicely. I like the Asher Roth tie in too.

excellent write-up. did you read that interview with them on pitchfork? el is funny fucking guy.
also, a 33 1/3 for Supreme Clientele is massively important

don’t you think wu-tang’s “forever” belongs in that anti-commercial triptych? seems like it’s even more important than any of those three if only for how many more people probably heard it

I just don’t see “WTF” as that type of record-yes, it certainly has anti-commercial sentiment, but it also has “Dogshit,” and “Black Shampoo.” Whereas, with those three records, it’s the central theme.

Excellent write up brah. Hoping some of the masses pick this joint up and keep on Summer rotation. A CF reunion tour maybe too? Hmmmm.
