I agree, it’s probably more of an overt Slim Thug parody than a Rick Ross one but don’t you think it’s a bit weird that Lonely Island would choose to parody a half a decade old Slim Thug song? I can think of six or seven more worthy targets than Slim Thug.

Still, it’s still really sad that “Incredibad” remains the third best hip hop album this year. I stay bumpin’ “Santana DVX”

Maybe I’m not giving them enough credit–after all, I’m pretty sure they were referencing Nine in the “Natalie Portman Rap.” Though I can’t imagine the SNL target audience is familiar with Slim Thug–which actually makes this that much more awesome.

Considering when this song was recorded, Slim Thug hadn’t released an album in three and a half years, a period when Rawse emerged as one of the most commercially viable rappers around (with major single “The Boss,”) it’s safe to assume Ross was the primary target of the satire.

I like the “Hustlin’ Remix,” but if you don’t think that Def Jam corporate synergy was a major part of Young Jeezy and Jay-Z appearing on the first single of a then largely unknown rapper, well….

Are you saying the Hustlin remix was a bad thing? That’s especially cold since I can’t think of anything Ross has better than that.

And yeah, this video applies far more to Slim Thug than Ross.
