JEFF - Glad the show continues to impress you - you've been there from the beginning and are one of the few that has been able to witness the natural progression...
FYI - The KNUX will be @ Coachella, Sasquach, Bonaroo, Jazz Fest in Montreal, Essence Fest, All Points West, Lollapalooza, Austin City Limits and various other dates this yr... CHK EM OUT!

i think Asher Roth seems like an alien programmed something to be a "white rapper" based on a collection of cd's, videos, and American Eagle catalogs. he just sounds too calculated and planned, even when he "freestyles." i don't hate the guy, but i really can't get into his stuff.

the beastie's stay fresh and make a lot of others sound like knock-offs. em started down that path before he became a "rich rapper." good call on the knux though...i hope there's a future there.

Meh no mention of Buck 65 in this at all. He made two fairly excellent rap records, (Language Arts, Vertex) some years ago, mines his own beats, and is better than Roth in every way imaginable.
There are no rightful heirs to the Beasties, not now, not ever.

co-sign brandon's post. and your praise of brandon's. all i have to add is this: I don't write about asher roth because I'd like for him to go away. and i'd rather not invoke his name and become someone railing against other people for listening to him. i think you and brandon both give voice to much of what bothers me about him.

rightful heirs to the beastie boys is what this is ultimately about, and you say knux? i honestly don't know enough of their music to say one way or the other, but this certainly makes me curious. i have always been bummed by how some heads dismiss the beasties, simply because non-heads ave adored them (your premise i believe); but then i remember feeling the same way about nirvana, green day, etc when they went from being my favorite "new", "underground" group to hearing them played along third eye blind, milli vanilli, and offspring... anyhow jeff, great read and well written.
