More Phish: The Phish Reunion in Hampton, Va.
It’d be a stretch to call me a Phish phanatic, but I’ve got boundless respect for their musicmanship, creativity, and general joie de vivre–despite the band’s frequent lapses into straight-up hippy-dippy goofdom. After listening to night one of their official reunion in Hampton, Virginia, finances permitting, I’ve decided to trek east in June to see them at Bonnaroo. Last night’s performance is about as focused as a band like Phish can get, while still retaining the ebullient insouciance they built their career on. Needless to say, my hippy friends are currently flipping the fuck out.
Quite generously, the band is offering up their set for free download at Live Phish.com. Unfortunately, you have to register with the website and obtain a special download manager that allows you to scoop the files all at once. To save y’all the hassle (all eight Phish fans that read this blog), I’ve zipped the show in Sendspace. You’re on your own for nights two and three. Is it a coincidence that Phish re-unites, the week after the Obama administration reveals that the federal government will no longer raid medical marijuana dispensaries? I think not.
