This is why the Internet was created: to watch the video for Joe Public’s “Live and Learn,” interspersed with old NBA blooper reels featuring Sedale Threatt, Mark Price, and Georghe “My Giant” Muresan. For those who malign hip-hop’s current cross-pollination with rock, I point to Joe Public and say, it could always be worse. Did Public Enemy sic S1W on these guys for shamelessly ripping off the beat of “Rebel Without A Pause?” I know Dart knows the answer to this.

Joe Public strike me much more as an 80s R&B/lite funk band that morphed into a new jack swing outfit circa 1990, than a rap-rock hybrid. And that one song they had was definitely funky, so I’m sure Chuck and company didn’t mind.

Well, they are fake-playing guitars. They were like Bell Biv Devoe meeets Milli Vanilla. I do like this song.

I think about this often and I’m not really sure why. Bill Cosby was on the Tonight Show when this song was popular and he jokingly said his kids were fans of the “Joe Pubic.” Again, I have no idea why I actually think about this as much as I do. I guess ’cause the Cos said “pubic.”
