Why the Internet is Too Much to Handle Sometimes

internet_dog.jpg

In one 24-hour span: leak of new M.O.P. single, Cage cut produced by El-P (see interview @ Shabooty), Swan Lake album, and the Jadakiss mixtape. I’m tempted to fall into the Pineapple Haze for the next 24 and try to make some sense of this mess.  I am also mildly obsessed with “Gucci Bandanna,” which is vaguely troubling. Mainly, because chanting, “Ay Gucci Bandanna, Gucci Gucci Bandanna,” doesn’t quite jibe with my day-to-day. That may have to change. Sadly.

  1. Years after The Knux have been forgotten, people will still remember Gucci Bandana. Is this Jada mixtape anywhere near as good as The Champ Is Here Pt. 1?

I like how your vision of the future is essentially a band of gaunt survivors, cockroaches, and “Gucci Bandanna” as their soundtrack. Haven’t heard the Jada yet.

  3. I don’t recall mentioning or even gesturing at gaunt survivors and cockroaches (though I personally have my gaunt days, but I can’t see myself surviving a… what are we supposed to be surviving here?).

  4. “(though I personally have my gaunt days, but I can’t see myself surviving a… what are we supposed to be surviving here?).”

A world where Soulja Boy music is the only form of music available?

  5. That does sound like a terrible world, hope I haven’t given the impression that I think that would be an agreeable world, though he does have a handful of great songs and I am a little gratified to see the recent spate of “Turn My Swag On” freestyles.

  6. as for “kiss my ass,” it’s not as great as the champ is here vol. 1, but it’s solid. “the people” with styles p. is NASTY, and “hard times” has me excited for the actual album, but does barrington levy really need autotune?
