OK, I realize its really early, but I dont forsee any way this album is NOT in my top 10 of the year. Granted, theres a couple tracks that are "meh", but overall I've never been happier about a musical comedy album. This skewers hip-hop circa 08 SO perfectly. And I didnt realize the production on "Natalie's Rap" was so ILL. Its really on some RZA shit. And also, when Julian Casablancas sings "I saw a Spanish guy doing the Bartman" I die everytime.

Could be, but then why not parody more than just a half line of the original to leave no question in the minds of diehards?

In the original "what you want, what you want" vs Natalie's "what you want, what you need" leaves a small doubt in my mind about your theory. Parody would fall under fair use so I'm sure borrowing more of the original wouldn't have been an issue unless some saavy attorneys were already up on Nine's existing beef with Jeep et al. OK, perhaps, perhaps...

Akiva would have been in high school (still in Berkeley?) when Nine's "Whatcha Want" dropped. I can't comment on whether BX-native Nine would have been bangin' on the west coast at that time, but he was getting considerable MTV airplay, so it's probable.

Email Akiva, I'd like to know too.
