The Roth Boil: Jeremy Jordan’s “The Right Kind of Love”

Hot 97 and Power 106 currently have “I Love College” in heavy rotation, meaning either Rifkin’s payola game stays strong or Big Boy just really loves Weezer. I’ll guess the latter, since SRC couldn’t get Pharoah’s Gnarls Barkley-lite flirtations anywhere near the dial. If and when Asher Roth’s debut actually drops, I’ll probably pen a poisonous polemic that will do little, if anything, to stop him from being a major pop star. The world is cruel, cue the diminutive Stradivarius, etc. etc.

This post really only exists to be part of my on-going series reminding everyone that this isn’t the first time corny crackers have appropriated hip-hop for foul purpose (see exhibit a). Who plays hoops with a white basketball? Maybe if Roth’s lucky, he’ll get on the soundtrack for the new 90210.

  1. That is sad news. It was probably futile to hope Roth would never blow up, but shivers of disgust still run up my spine when I think back to the first and only time I listened to “The Greenhouse Effect.”

Re: the above video: that’s a lot of denim.

I never understood the jean jacket.

  3. Asher Roth’s music makes me ANGRY.

It’s like when Eminem got rich and didn’t have anything to write about, and made that album with fart sounds… but less creative/talented.

It’s like if the guys from 3oh!3 met up with that guy Kevin Rudolf, and they put out a more generic protoge, who took himself seriously.

It’s like if someone listened to the Lonely Island and didn’t understand that it was a joke.

GOD, I can’t wait for him and Katy Perry to colaborate and write the song that I will commit suicide to.

Also, who name’s their child Asher Roth?

    I’m just saying.
