The album of secret complicity. A holy relic. Went shopping with my flat mate and his girl, she'd got a gift voucher and was scouting around for good new things. Offhand I said, 'what about Alice Coltrane?'. She liked Coltrane a lot. 'what's she sound like?' "dunno,' i said, 'but i keep reading about her'. she nodded and popped it into her stack. couple years later, a couple of boyfriends later, she comes back for a visit, and we spent the most intense night together, stoned to the point of shimmering clarity, making out for hours and alice wax and waned, wailed and glissed for hours and hours and hours. exquisite memory, exquisite woman, and alice's music just plugged into the moment and made it TRANSCENDENT. DIG IT!

I vaguely remembered this disc among the recommended from my respected peers / mentors (Lowney Bros.) back when it was a relatively fresh slab of vinyl. I may have heard it a couple of times, but only recently *listened* to it. I think the path that lead me back to it was looking for info about Dorothy Ashby, one of my favorite artists. I need to put on my glasses and study the liner notes on the groovy LP replica CD. Glad someone else is listening too!

You'd also think that your own blog wouldn't be so trivial, but there you go.

You'd think you be on something a little more obscure if you're going to use the term "digging" even if it is followed by the world "digital"...

I gave this a go but found it pretty challenging. I want to give it some proper time at some point soon just off the back of what you, Sach and Flood think of it.

Pass me the blunt...
