Prafit-”My LIfe” (produced by Disco Vietnam)
Lyrically, “My Life,” the latest jaunt from the duo of Passion of the Weiss contributor/marijuana guru/Jedi warrior Disco Vietnam and Long Island’s Prafit, doesn’t extend much further than facile similes, shit-talking braggadocio, and shout outs to the pair’s Strong Isle roots. But as on “Nice Weather,” the pair showcase an impressive chemistry, with Prafit adroitly attacking the beat’s soulful, plangent horn section and stutter-step drums. Plus, extra credit is earned for the name-drop of one of the half-dozen or so redeeming No Limit cuts, Silkk the Shocker and Mystikal’s “It Ain’t My Fault.” All nepotism aside, this is a duo you should be checking for.

There are hundreds of redeeming No Limit cuts! What were you thinking when you wrote that? “Ice Cream Man,” just the song, not even the album >> Andrew Sullivan’s life. Although at this point, MP DA Last Don >> Andrew Sulivan’s life. Why are you always linking to that idiot anyway? The medical records? How is he still on that shit? Next he’ll be like, “How do we know that Sarah is not just an elaborate Tickle Me Elmo? Has anyone ever seen her bleed or ingest food? Show me the records!” Seriously, that guy has lost his mind. It’s like asking Obama to do a paternity test to prove that his children are really his. Yes, the circumstances of the pregnancy were a little funny, but her daughter’s pregnant so the child has to be hers. Who else could she be covering for?

He doesn’t believe it to be true. He simply finds it curious and their behavior in response to his curiosity makes it all the more curious (not to mention an insult to transparency) because any doubt could be easily refuted.

There’s something strangely nostalgic in Mystikal threatening you that he’ll “peel your potatoes”..ah No Limit makes modern poprap look positively trashtastic

Zilla, this reminds me of the Ohword comment thread some months ago when Dart was asked to name, and name, the 50 great albums he thought came out this year - back in May. And they were all garbage. But anyway, I’ll be happy to oblige. Not so happy to kill myself. Now, I’m not a No Limit completist, so this list will be woefully incomplete, but here are some. Now these are the great songs, there are thousands of just plain good songs.
Master P: The Ghetto’s Trying To Kill Me, Break Em Off Somethin, Ice Cream Man, Bout It Bout It, Playa From Around The Way, Swamp Nigga, 1/2 On A Bag of Dank, Burbons & Lacs, Bloody Murder (that last one is going back to 1992).
C-Murder: Down For My Niggas, Eyes Of A Killa, Torcher Chamber.
TRU: No Limit Soldiers, Final Ride, Mobbin Through The Hood, Tru 2 Da Game.
Mystikal: Beware, Here I Go, The Man Right Chea.
Young Bleed - How Ya Do Dat There.
504 Boyz - Wobble Wobble. Classic bounce.
Mia X - You Don’t Wanna Go 2 War, Unlady Like.
Mac - Murda Murda Kill Kill.
Soulja Slim - From What I Was Told.
Kane & Abel - Gangstified, God & Gunz.
