So I’ve finally figured out exactly who Asher Roth reminds me of. The Eminem comparisons being a bit too facile and undermined by the fact that, y’know, the young Marshall Mathers was actually a great rapper.
Behold…the long-forgotten Delicious Vinyl white rapper Jesse Jaymes who briefly owned the Box for a shining moment in the summer of ’91 with his War-sampling douchestastic frat-boy classic, “College Girls are Easy.” See also, the ensuing video for “Shake It Like a White Girl,” which sabotaged the progress of gyrating white girls everywhere, until U.S.D.A. managed to redeem their good name. Sort of.

Yikes. As bad as Asher Roth is, I doubt he’ll ever make a video that looks like a 1991 Playboy Spring Break article come to life.

Why be a hater? Asher Roth is nice as hell and has proven it. He has the biggest mixtape in the country and his live show is nuts. Stop hatin and admit what it is. Asher Roth is nice. Fuckin Haterz

Mark spelled haters with a “z”. That’s so 1991! If he was a Prince fan it would’ve read “U R haterz. May U live 2 see the dawn.”
In other news, I just concluded my blog series entitled “The Official Handbook To The Bloggerverse” where I did a counterpart/equivalent blog comparing blogs themselves or bloggers to characters in the Marvel Universe. In the end I included almost 90 blogs including some of your favorites. Check it out here:

I’m not sold on the Asher Roth hate being anything other than hating for hateness’ sake which normally, I’m all for but it bothers me that the dude seems to only really get because he’s white and middle class.
I mean the worst I really can say about him is he’s not good. I wouldn’t mind seeing him push the likes of Yung Berg off the radio and him replacing him.

Granted, all I really heard from the dude is that Roth Boys video which seemed perfectly harmless frat rap and no reason to get panties into bunches.

I think Brandon pretty much nailed it a while back.
When his debut album comes out, I’ll probably write a longer essay illustrating why exactly I think this kid is so bad.
