Blind Willie McTell-”Bell Street Lightnin’”
Yesterday was my birthday. Accordingly, I suspect today will be about “Bell Street Lightnin’.” Also, I’m about ready to make it a rule that if a musician has the word “Blind” in his name, I will probably like them. Unless they’re like near-sighted or something. That’s just milking it for sympathy points (not to mention allow half of Echo Park to adopt the moniker.)
And yes, I’m throwing in “Southern Can Mama,” not because it’s impossible to avoid posting a song called “Southern Can Mama,” and not because The White Stripes once covered it. Instead, I’m sharing it because it’s one of the first songs ever about recycling.

“Blind” should replace “Young” and “Lil” as the go-to rap moniker. Think of the possibilities… I’m cracking up imagining a rapper named Blind Jeezy.
Happy belated birthday!

Thanks for more the blues related posts.
Y’ know, a few weeks ago I ran across a more uptempo version of McTell’s “Southern Can” that I really liked. I’ve included a link. And if you don’t already know it, archive.org can be a bit of a gold mine for old blues.
