In short, I liked it. Not as much as Rolling Stone/Spin did, but certainly more than the pans that Pitchfork and several other online outfits gave it. It's probably my least favorite of their records but it still has some great moments and marked an interesting shift for the band. I sort of see it as their Get Behind Me Satan: a necessary change of pace for a band in transition. A little disjointed and inconsistent but compelling and an objectively "good" record.
