    Fair is fair: If MMJ is going to add Badu tracks to their repertoire then I rescind my comment about them not being the best live band in the world. (Jim James is still a total homo though. And he looks like a fatter version of that nihilistic fellow from That 70’s Show. Incidentally, That 70’s Show is for total homos.)

    They’ve been doing “Tyrone” for years. It’s one of their best known covers.

    Jeff, unless I missed it, you never really said much about the latest MMJ album. It received some pretty middling reviews. Care to give us your take on said album…?

    Yeah, I was sort of burnt out on writing about them after the feature for the Weekly.

    In short, I liked it. Not as much as Rolling Stone/Spin did, but certainly more than the pans that Pitchfork and several other online outfits gave it. It’s probably my least favorite of their records but it still has some great moments and marked an interesting shift for the band. I sort of see it as their Get Behind Me Satan: a necessary change of pace for a band in transition. A little disjointed and inconsistent but compelling and an objectively “good” record.
