I'm not trying to hate on the guy.

But I just can't get over how much he raps about other rappers.

It gets to the point of being ridiculous sometimes.

It's almost like he's got nothin else to say besides shout outs to other MCs.

He's got a decent flow and fairly decent rhyme play...but nothing you could call original in my opinion.

i drone on myself about this in my new post, but how does this guy rap well? his flow always sounds the same and he doesn't seem to ever play off his beats. and i'm hard-pressed to find any really good beats here besides "Angel."

Dope, can't wait to read the feature.

Okay, I see your point about Game. Maybe like a West Coast version of Little Brother.

Of course. In fact, I wish he would do just that. Like I said, he's no savior and he's inherently flawed but he does do his one thing very well.

I'm currently working on a big piece on the next generation of LA rappers for LA Weekly. It comes out next month and will address many of these issues.

I get that his entire career is an homage to the West of yesteryear, but don't you think for the West rap scene to come up again or progress, that rappers like The Game need to get over or abandon the past?

i got into an argument one time when the doctor's advocate came out, because i called game "a mediocre rapper with an incredible ear for beats."

now, i'll say that he's stepped his game up to being a merely decent rapper, but he still has, far and away, the best ear for beats in rap right now.
