Word. I’ve never heard this Santogold person and the hype surrounding her makes me weary but getting a co-sign from Gary Grice or anybody in the Wu-Tang for that matter (U-God being the exception, naturally) is hip hop.

Santi White was in the group Stiffed and she wrote the entire album “How I Do” for Res (who appeared on “Beneath The Surface”). Any Santi White/Stiffed/Res/GZA fan already knew this tidbit of information so to answer your original question…No.
Santogold is Santi White plus her producers…kinda like Cat Power/Chan and PJ Harvey/Polly Jean.
