Joni Mitchell Never Lies
Working on a piece for LA Weekly about the legacy of Dilla and the difficulties his estate has had in enforcing copyright law. In the process, I re-encountered this Yancey-produced gem off The Velvet Rope. Trivia fact of the day: this was the only Dilla produced record to hit the Top 40. Question to ponder: Did Q-Tip invent hipster rap with his outfit in this video?

Really looking forward to this piece, Jeff. I trust you’ll keep the hungry masses informed when you’re finished.
By the way, Rush month is over, though it has required such a cleansing that I crouched in a scalding hot shower while I cried for the better part of an hour.
