damn, this has got to be one of the finest posts of any mp3 blog i've ever read. swear to god.

fisrtly, you've put into words feeling i didn't even know i had, such as:

" I can’t even begin to imagine how disgruntled my adolescence would’ve been had I been forced to listen to “A Bay Bay” and “Low” everywhere I went. We got “Regulate,” and “Hip-Hop Hooray,” they got the Soulja Boy dance."

i mean, wow. the whole thing makes me feel kind of old but you've managed to capture exactly what needs to be said sbout the music that is coming out these days.

the whole first half of this post perfectly describes my...or i guess i should say OUR adolescence; concidering that, after i read this, it made me realized how much one song tied us all together. it really was the anthem of the summer of 95 and listening to it now brings me right back to wearing my jnco jeans.

the whole bit about the crazy liner notes and bringing it into how kids don't even buy cds anymore is pure brilliance.

"Of course, I don’t think any of us were aware of the subject matter at the same. Not like it mattered, I can’t imagine a topic my 14-year old self could’ve related to less than needing government assistance to buy drugs "

i didn't even realize that's what the song's about until i read your post which shows how right on the money you are with your writing. i'm sure tons of people who listened to this song still don't know what it's about. I'm rambling, so i'll try to wrap this up.

seriously, great writing. now i'm gonna go and read your other posts and cant wait for what's to come.

thank you!

The thing I like most about Bone Thugs is how completely untethered from any sort of reality they seem. Somebody at their label had to be advising them not to release a five-plus minute paean to welfare as their lead single.
-------

I ain't never metchu blood, but I can hear your voice when I read your writing.

Thats that shit right there.

I was never more proud of Cleveland than when I first saw the video for "1st Of Tha Month" when I was twelve years old in the summer of '95. The Indians were kicking ass on their way to 100 wins that year in a strike shortened season, Bone was playing on every radio in the county and I was "dating" the 5th grade love of my life then. It's still arguably the best time of my life...

So sad...
