Off this great compilation that came out two weeks ago. Does anybody know anything about The Hykkers. Specifically, how I can find out more stuff like this? If you do, send me an e-mail in Morse code. Thanks.

Ooh, I like this. Unfortunately, Google brings up a lot of listings for the band with press on this very compilation.
But!
This book might have answers: http://books.google.com/books?id=yIHfybGz5HoC&printsec=frontcover&source=gbs_summary_r#PPP11,M1
Sorry about the lack of morse code, I’m terrible at it.

One more thing…I just found this blog today – you write for the Weekly? I envy you. I liked your campaign song suggestions for Giuliani and Edwards, speaking of which.
Tschus!

The Hykkers were one of the earliest and most popular Nigerian post-highlife pop/rock (or “beat”) groups. the only members i know for certain are lead singer Pat Finn and guitarist Jake Sollo, who later was a member of the Funkees and Osibisa and then became a prominent record producer in Nigeria before he died in a car crash around 1986 or so.
The Hykkers released 3 45s that i know of: “I Want a Break Thru,” “Stone the Flower” and “God Gave His Only Son”… all of them rare as hen’s teeth and costing a king’s ransom. happy hunting!
