Jeff,

Great work my friend, this must be one of the only interviews where I've seen PR get properly vocal. Exceptional stuff.

Peace,

"but when i see old schoolers like Rakim and Rock give props to dudes like G-Unit and Dipset it’s just weird."

^^^ Exactly man, maybe you have the wrong perception of underground artists... I shoulda just said lesser known/indie artists intstead of underground.

as much as i tend to hate on "newer underground dudes" (and underground dudes in general for that matter,) i gotta agree. well i like T.I. but when i see old schoolers like Rakim and Rock give props to dudes like G-Unit and Dipset it's just weird. it's like they feel like they're obligated to give props to the new school or they'll be seen as old fogies. it's OK, you guys can call wack shit on being wack

Nice interview. But why does Pete only want to work with those artists??? TI, Cassidy, G-Unit? Why? I mean doesn't he want to work with some newer underground dudes with talent?

This is a much better interview than I got from the Chocolate Boy Wonder! But that's why you're getting that big boy money, Jeff!

Holy shit, Pete Rock? That headline blew me away.
This was a great interview.
Props for not pressing him about a possible PR/CL reunion, too many people ask him about it.
I'm sad Nas & him will never work again.
Loved that last caption; there is nothing better than matzo ball soup, pastrami and a cold Dr. Brown's.
I'm surprised Pete isn't really checking for anyone new in NY in terms of who he'd like to produce for.
But it would be cool to have him produce for some more mainstream cats. Hell, he made me enjoy Jim Jones!
Nitpicking: There's a few uncapitalized rapper names here and there.

Pete said he'd sampled Fela once or twice but I couldn't make out over the phone what album he'd sampled it on. I'm not sure why more guys haven't. Lack of familiarity I assume.
