I walk with you on not wanting to lean into the vortex of hyperbole, but this album for me is that instant classic. I can see this disc playing for me next year and beyond.

And on another note, the new Fisty Scent album is as important as the ‘Ye album. They both describe the aspirations of rap to be the greatest thing since water flavored with sugar.

Except Fisty’s sugar water uses a gun as a prop.

Wow, I’m going to have to totally disagree here. I was always able to get over Kanye’s personality on his previous albums because his insecurity was a nice counterpoint to his raging ego (and he always had great songs), but this go around his obnoxiousness has reached Sean Combs levels to me. Plus, as adventurous as he’s become musically, he’s taking steps in all the wrong directions, eliminating all the subtlety that Jon Brion brought on Late Registration and replacing it with quick stylistic jacks from Dance music.

I mean, I’m not taking away from his talent and I think he achieved what he wanted with this album…but I have no real interest in hearing a record design to rock U2’s audience frankly.

Ah well, like Sly said, different strokes. We can agree on the Aesop album.

Just finished lisning to the album and he first word on my lips was classic…so i jumped straight on the net to see if any1 agreed or if i was just crazy - apparantly not!!! Album is gonna go down as a landmark album in my opinion!

How can you review it without hearing it? I mean, it hasn’t come out yet.

Seriously, I am totally with you on this. I really wanted to hate the album, too, because major label hip hop has been incredibly disappointing this year. I can’t wait to buy it legit on 9/11 and help put 50 Cent out of business.

Wow. So it begins. It’s undoubtedly a great album, but hold off on the instant classic declaration.

I damn sure hope that all those techno synths are not the future of rap, or I’ll just kill myself now. I can’t point to a bad song on the album and that’s all one can ask for to start out.

I’m pretty sure I’ll like it as much as I do now, a year from today, but I’ll put Return of the Mac back on to get rid of all that saccharine.
