Passion,
Thanks for the shout out but I am far from esteemed.

What are your thoughts on this...
2007 - 1987 = equal more good, mind expanding music than

1987 - 1967 (rocks heydays)

1967 - 1947 (jazz era)

Or, am I just being narrow-minded and overly Hip-Hop-centric?

btw, nice list

I'm all about the old school! Love the back 25.

Sorry, I didn't get my list in time -- thought we had until next Tuesday.

No bother, it was fun to go through the old tapes eitherway.
It forced me to pull out some old fav's and listen again (it had been awhile on some).
Black Sheep, 3rd Bass, Arrested Development, and Slick Rick.

Look forward to the top 25!

--fearless23
www.thealternakids.com

I have some Kool G Rap records and while I'm impressed with his rapping ability and story-telling, I don't think the beats on what i've heard hold up to the more recent stuff. But yeah, he deserved a spot on this list (as did Slick Rick, who I inadvertantly left out).

Nice list!

'Sex Packets' seems like it was released years ahead of its time. Squeezed into a 1990 Hip Hop world consisting of MC Hammer, the Black Power raps, and West Coast gangsterism, the album's feel didn't fit in any. Heck, most fans dissecting it now were HS or younger back then. Release it in 07, it's pegged as "alternative" or "independent." Alas, a classic record.

Big ups on including that Big L record. In 95 I had that disk in my car-cd deck, then sold the rig, took out the deck and forgot to remove the disk. That deck was on the shelf for 6 yrs before I made the discovery of the long lost disk. Only made it more enjoyable to listen to again.
