Great tunes - Chocolate & Cheese is one of my all time favourite albums. If you like Ween, you may also like a band I'm in called the Abodes - we're kind of wonky guitar pop duo and our new album, Chicko Scene is available for FREE by following this link -

http://getthelot.blogspot.com/2007/02/free-album-get-abodes-album-chicko.html#links

Check us out next time you're bored...

A hilarious scene took place in New York City a few months ago...Ween's bassist Diamond Dave Dreiwitz stood outside the Knitting Factory with two members of the Disco Biscuits and a few other assorted musicians and friends.

An untz untz untz-lovin' Bisco fan came up to his idols and Ween came up in the conversation, only this kid had no idea Dave played in the band. The kid proceded to rip Ween apart, spewing all kinds of nonsense like "They write okay songs, but they don't jaaaam, maaaan, they can't jam for shit!" The comedy was basically off the charts, and as a fan of jambands, that shit makes me cringe.

The whole point of this anecdote is, Ween writes some fucking great songs, and if you can't appreciate them for what they are, you're basically a walking Terri Schiavo.

I totally get you on the Ween experience as an 11 year old. At the time this record came out, my friend loved them and had their CD--they used to get played constantly on Philly's first "alternative rock" station WDRE 103.9. I didn't know what to make of them but giggled at their song titles. Plus they had speaking parts in some crappy SNL movie (I think it was "Pat: The Movie") that bombed.

Listening to them now, I get their brilliance. Hopefully I can score some of their albums in the used bin at my local record store. Great post my friend.

Given the Philly connection, it's become obvious that Man Man is Ween if Ween was the worst band in the world. The run from "C&C" to "White Pepper" is pretty damn impressive.
