Inspired by a tour of Eastern Europe, Condon delivered an album redolent with an old world scent of strong coffee and tobacco ash flicked onto cracked cobblestone sidewalks, with the clashing, crashing beauty of balkan brass bands roaring from nearby, songs sung by a teenager blessed with a world-weary weathered baritone.
Jeff, I'm with you on the Sunset Rubdown Album. It's so uniquely emotional. Especially the last song on the Album. I can't get enough of it...

And after meeting Scott at the Sufjan show and reading his comments, it seems like we need to hang out with this dude and talk to Sampson...

Yeah Yellow House is definitely pretty great. It's gonna' be pretty high on my year-end list. But I'm still sticking with Sunset Rubdown as mybest of...even though no one in their right mindagrees with me.

Supposedly, he's really improved...I think when he first did shows he was with a four piece and now its a nine person....doesn't surrrise me that he's improved...I can't even imagine how daunting it must've been to be just 20 and touted as the next big thing...on Gulag: I think its biggest strength is the way it flows...even though some songs arent as good as the others, its just such a coherent album
