Jeff, this blog was way too long to read completely.
I get it, you hate JT, but that record is good!
That Black Keys is a yawn.
Sorry.

i feel you on the black keys. while this album is far from my favorite by them, it is a shame that JT is a megastar while relatively few will even hear of the black keys.

I love the Black Keys. I love JT. I think "Future Sex" is a damn good pop record but isn't this life-changing critical monster; it's being touted because Timbaland brought in live strings for the most of the record (much like Bubba Sparxx's excellent "Deliverance" album). I have yet to cop the new Black Keys--pockets are tight after grabbing JT, Lupe, TV on the Radio, and about 10 mixtapes. But they are solid and raw and "Rubber Factory" is still my shit.

Noixe: those are some great pts and race is certainly not exclusively the factor...though I imagine there's a lot of young white girls that fawn over Timberlake rather than say an Usher...who I actually will admit to being very talented (and incredibly obnoxious).

Damn..Group Home...they really lucked out huh. Wonder what Lil Dap is up to...maybe he can tear Primo away from Aguilera long enough to save his career. Or whatever's left of it

the concept is on point, ie how to respectfully ripping off black innovation v. cashing in, but I think there's more to the story. there's no precedent for timberlake on racial terms, as the next great white artist to get rich(er) building on the work of black legends. but without the race angle, timberlake is just continuing on the long tradition of mind-blowing beats carrying mediocre singing/rapping. his career has less in common with novelty artists cashing in on race (snow, whatup) and more in common with group home and the ying yang twins.

the post is still ill though.

Scott: contempt for critics is what I do best...I'm just glad the sentiment is shared...as a wise man once decreed Pitchfork is the hackey-sack of the blogosphere...

Nate-I really don't know if I've ever seen anyone better...he was unreal

Notes--i'm honored...but we both know Craig Finn is probably Jesus.
