On top of that, Mazdas had a high "street" value on account of their Japanese parts, I believe. At least, that's how my uninformed, anecdote-driven memory is serving me right now. (Maybe Nate can drop some knowledge?) Perhaps the MPV fascination was a result of the zeitgeist.
