Weiss the younger, i am honored by your comment and will accordingly try not to embarasss you so that you never comment again. Thank you for the high praise. Of course you are right. No one or nothing could top the Lou Reed blog. I mean, the guy wrote vicious...what more could I say.

Unreal post. UN-FUCKING-REAL. "Cab Fare"? Great pick. Love it.

I've always harbored similar DJ ambition and, like you, couldn't invest the time and money. Maybe one day when I'm rich and have nothing better to do. I mean, I'm like the opening of "Glaciers of Ice"--yo son, I had crazy visions. A blend set, hopping from samples to originals and back; a gully set, playing the all-time best "hard" music (); something for the grown and sexy. And then it'd be like blue and cream...

Surprising considering the man who asked me to the DJ offer was a UVA frat boy himself. Class of 03. Perhaps he himself has been scarred by the Motown experience. I will have to consult with him and his band experiences, though I sort of picture every motown band playing to a fraternity being just like Otis Day and the Knights from Animal House.

Nate: I'm telling you its only a matter of time before hipsters co-opt the word for themselves. Actually on second thought maybe Ill stop using it. It seems that thanks to journalists who use the phrase hipster to describe anybody below 30 who isn't a complete nerd it no longer has any meaning. Hipster might have completely jumped the shark which bothers me because Its probably my favorite word next to Gorgonzola.

Crock: If by this you are inferring that I am not as fly a DJ as Dice you are right. Sadly, you are right.

Being a fly DJ requires more than just good musical taste; it requires, grit, determination, charisma, and what the French call "a certain I don't know what." Keep dreaming, Weiss. You are not a fly DJ.

You Hipster...you just wanted to show off your diverse musical taste. And diverse it is. Anyhow, great post. Speaking of Indie bands selling their stuff for commercials, I heard a Silversun Pickups song (of all things) on a commercial today. These indie songs must come cheap or something. Or maybe not...Judging by all of the old school hipsters working in post production at the studios surrounding my job, I'm sure that they probably have some influence over which songs are picked for these commericals.

Gotta go pick my jaw off the floor. Astonishing work...but let's face it; there should've been at least one law schooler who was in a fraternity, because he would know the best way to please a diverse group of alcoholics would be to get a Motown band. No offense. For our law prom, we had a group fronted by Isaac Hayes' daughter. I would imagine there are 29 bands out there claiming to be fronted by offspring of Mr. Hot Buttered Soul.
